Katrin Bekes
Katrin Bekes, DMD, PhD (Dr. med. dent. habil.), MME, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Bekes graduated from Dental School at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany in 2002. She submitted her DMD thesis (Dr. med. dent.) the following year and later gained her PhD in Dental Medicine (2012). She completed a Master of Medical Education at the University of Heidelberg in 2016. After graduating, Dr. Bekes was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry and Periodontology at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany and prior to taking up her present position she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry at that university.
Dr. Bekes was General Secretary of the German Society of Paediatric Dentistry for the past 11 years. Currently, she is President of the German Society of Paediatric Dentistry, Vice President of the Austrian Society of Paediatric Dentistry, and observing councillor of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry for Austria. She is the editor of two books, and is an editorial board member of several international journals.
Elias Berdousas
Dr. Berdouses received his Dental Degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Dental School, his Certificate in Paediatric Dentistry and Master’s in Oral Biology from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA and his PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Dental School.
He has worked as research fellow at the Brookhaven Laboratories in New York. He works in Athens at his private practice limited to Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics and in a private practice in Dubai, UAE. He has worked as clinical instructor at the University of Athens, Dental School and as faculty at the Paediatric Dentistry Department of the European University College in Dubai, UAE. He has taken part in two European research projects funded by EU and in one National pathfinder study for oral health status and treatment needs in Greek population.
He has published in National and International journals and has lectured in National and International congresses and seminars. His primary interest is dental informatics, caries diagnosis, prevention and dental trauma. He is also co-author in the text book “Dental Informatics, Principles, Means and Applications”.
Dr. Berdouses has served as Secretary and Vice-President of the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Dentistry and as Secretary of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry. Currently is President Elect of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.
Agnes Bloch-Zupan
Agnès Bloch-Zupan graduated from Strasbourg Louis Pasteur University, Alsace, France, where she also obtained her PhD in developmental biology. Since 2007, she has been Professor of Oral Biology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Strasbourg, France, and she works in the Reference Centre for rare oral and dental diseases, O-Rares, Pôle de Médecine et Chirurgie Bucco-Dentaires, Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg. Professor Bloch-Zupan is Team Leader for Orodental Development and Anomalies at the IGBMC (Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology), CNRS-UdS UMR7104, Inserm U1258, llkirch, France. Since 2009, she has also been Honorary Professor at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, UK. From 2008 to 2013, she was Board-Member of the European Society of Human Genetics and since 2008 has been President of the Scientific Committee of the patient support group Hypophosphatasia Europe. She has been Chairperson and expert of the working group WG3 Genetics/Anomalies of the European COST (European Concerted Research Action B23) “Oral facial development and regeneration”.
Professor Bloch-Zupan is a renowned expert in odontogenetics. Her research interests are craniofacial and, specifically, palate and tooth development and their abnormalities. Her originality is to combine approaches both in mice (mutant mouse models) and human presenting these palate and teeth developmental defects as clinical phenotypical manifestations of rare diseases. She is also leading the D[4]/phenodent registry for human dental anomalies, linked to a collection of biological samples. She has been and is the project leader for European programs INTERREG IV A27 Offensive Sciences on orodental manifestations of rare diseases and the 2016-2019 INTERREG V Project No. 1.7 “RARENET: a trinational network for education, research and management of complex and rare diseases in the Upper Rhine” co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union. She developed a NGS diagnostic panel for rare diseases with orodental anomalies called GenoDENT. She is the representative for France of the COST action CA16234, European Cleft and Craniofacial Initiative for Equality in Care.
Professor Bloch-Zupan wrote more than 120 publications, including 67 publications in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 publications in professional journals. She has given 120 invited seminars or conferences and 160 presentations in congresses. In 2015, she received the prestigious Sciences Price of the Rhénane Académie and became a fellow of the Institute of Advanced Studies (USIAS) of the University of Strasbourg. She was the recipient in 2016, of the Micheline Blain Price from the RSBO (Réseau de Recherche en Santé Bucco-Dentaire et Osseuse) in Canada.
Jorge Casian
Dr. Jorge Casián graduated from the Dental School of Universidad Intercontinental of México City. He received his degree in Pediatric Dentistry from UIC in 1988 and his degree in Orthodontics from IDAP, México City in 1999. Dr.Casián was professor of Pediatric Dentistry of the Universidad Veracruzana and has been professor of the Mexican Dental Association since 1991 and has numerous publications. He is an International lecturer in Mexico, Spain, Paraguay, Colombia, Republic of Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Chile, USA, Uruguay, Egypt, Ukraine and South Korea.
Dr. Jorge Casián has been involved with local and international Pediatric Dentistry associations, He was the President of the Mexican Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 2017-2018 and currently is the Past-President of AMOP.
He works in private practice as Pediatric Dentist and Orthodoncist in the state of Veracruz in Mexico.
Zafer Çehreli
Dr. Cehreli is professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Hacettepe University, where he has been for most of his career.
He has published over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, has co-authored in several book chapters, and his publications have been cited extensively. Dr. Cehreli has also served as a reviewer or editorial board member to many international scientific journals.
He is an active member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry and International Association of Dental Research. He is director of the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT), and has been the Chair of IADT’s education committee since 2017.
Dr. Cehreli has published extensively in the field of Pediatric restorative dentistry, pediatric endodontics and dental traumatology, and has lectured extensively throughout Europe, Americas and Asia and Africa on those topics.
He has a long-standing interest in minimally-invasive treatment options for MIH-affected teeth.
Monty Duggal
Prof Duggal obtained his dental degree and MDS in Paediatric Dentistry from India. He then immigrated to the United Kingdom and obtained his FDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and his PhD from University of Leeds. He was appointed Professor and Chair of Child Dental Health at Leeds Dental Institute in 1999 where he oversaw a large postgraduate programme in Paediatric Dentistry which has international acclaim.
In January 2017 he was appointed as Professor and Head of Paediatric Dentistry in Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore. Currently he is the Vice Dean and Faculty Research Director of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS). He has served in various senior positions, and was President of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry from 2014-2016 and has been on the board of EAPD for last 10 years.
Professor Duggal has published over 160 research papers in international journals and is author of “Restorative Techniques in Paediatric Dentistry, which has been published in 7 languages and has sold over 16,000 copies worldwide. He is also a co-author of a textbook on Dental Traumatology and has Co-Edited “Paediatric Dentistry” by Oxford, now in its 5th edition and is the most widely followed textbook in Paediatric dentistry in the world. More recently he authored “Paediatric Dentistry at a Glance”, published by Blackwell Willey.
He has administered research grants totaling over seven million pounds and is an internationally recognised researcher and clinician with main research interest is Cariology and Translation Research in Clinical Paediatric Dentistry, including dental traumatology and regenerative endodontics and auto-transplantation. Apart from Paediatric Dentistry his main interest is playing and watching cricket and any time spare from work and family is devoted to this important activity
Marlies Elfrink
Marlies Elfrink studied dentistry at the Radboud University Nijmegen, and followed the master program in paediatric dentistry at ACTA (Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam), the Netherlands. In 2012 she received her PhD for her research on Hypomineralised Second Primary Molars (HSPM). Nowadays she works in her general dental practice Mondzorgcentrum Nijverdal (The Netherlands) and participates in the Paediatric REsearch Project (PREP). She regularly writes articles on her research projects and she presents it at national and international conferences.

Norbert Krämer
Prof. Dr. Norbert Krämer obtained his PhD from the University of Erlangen in 1997. Between 2006 and 2009 he was the head of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry in Dresden. In 2009 he was appointed director of the Policlinic of Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Gießen.
He was elected in different positions (2000-2004 President of the German Society of Paediatric Dentistry [GSPD], Board member of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry [EAPD; 2008 President-elect, 2010 President, 2012 Past-President], 2015-2019 again President of the GSPD, 2017-2019 member of the Board of Directors and since July 2019 President elect of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry [Representative of the Nations].
Prof. Krämer is Editor and Editorial Board of several international journals. He has published ca. 170 research papers/books/articles (cum IF: 152; Research Gate Score: 35.6; H-index 36). His expertise is in dental materials, dental public health and controlled clinical studies.
Nick Lygidakis
Dr Nick A. Lygidakis is running a private clinic in Athens and until 2016 he has served as Senior Consultant and Director in the NHS Regional Dental Centre for Children in Athens. He is also teaching in the postgraduate paediatric dental programs of the Universities of Athens, Giessen, and Leeds, in the latter being Honorary Reader since 2002. He holds MSc degrees in Child Dental Health (London) and Genetics (Oxford) and a PhD (Athens).
He has served as EAPD President and Secretary and HSPD President, being involved in the organization of a great number of European and Greek scientific, professional and CPD activities, including the ‘EAPD Hermes and Athena’ programs that he first introduced in Europe. At present he is Editor in Chief of the European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry, the official journal of EAPD.
He has 58 publications, with more than 1800 citations, 370 abstracts and a great number of invited lectures in Congresses and Seminars. His research and clinical interests are in the fields of dental anomalies, special needs patients, trauma, fissure sealants and interceptive orthodontics and he is frequently an invited speaker internationally on these subjects.

David has spent more than 30 years in private practice and academia and is currently professor of paediatric dentistry and cariology at the centre for dentistry and oral health at UMCG, University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Until 2019 he was the Elsdon Storey Chair of Child Dental Health at the University of Melbourne and a visiting consultant at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. He is involved in several collaborative and postgraduate research projects in both paediatric dentistry, cariology and orthodontics. Graduated BDSc (Melb) in 1984 and worked in general practice until 1991 when he undertook an MDSc in Paediatric Dentistry. He was dental advisor to the Federal Government from 1994 – 1996 and won the KG Sutherland Prize of the RACDS in 2007. He is on the editorial boards of the European Archives on Paediatric Dentistry and the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, and the advisory panel (board) of the European Caries Research Association (ORCA).
Over the past 15 years David has spoken throughout Australia, Asia and Europe and has wide ranging experience in laboratory, in situ and clinical trials of CPP-ACP, Developmental Defects of Enamel, Minimum Intervention Dentistry, the detection of carious lesions, and the use of calcium silicates in endodontics. He has published more than 120 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and has been cited more than 3400 times since 2015.

Tarun Walia
Dr. Tarun Walia did his Masters in Paediatric Dentistry (MDS) in 1997 from prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, INDIA. After senior residency in the same institute, he moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
